SQL Server 2008 R2 Runtime? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've developed an app that accesses a remote SQL Server using ado.net. I'm finding that I can not run the app unless I install SQL Server Express 2008 R2 on each client machine. My app references the following assemblies:-

    Microsoft.ExceptionMessageBox

    Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo

    Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc

    Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo

    Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum

Is there a runtime that will enable me to run the app without the full express install?

  • Yu have a credential issue.  To access a computer remotely you need to have windows credentials and the SQL database credentials.  So you must set up a user group on the PC to allow remote user access to the computer in windows.  I then recommend making sure the SQL Server database use the same windows group account.
