Creating a Background Worker Process in Office App RRS feed

  • Hi,

    Is it feasible to create a Background worker process in Office App? We are unable to refer to the UI element from the Background worker Progress changed method. We are developing Office type App with VS 2013. I am doing the heavy process in a Web API Controller.

    Yes, you can use any technology like any other common web application. However, the Office add-ins interop with Office UI via the Internet Explorer process. It means that all interaction occurs on the client. And all the managed code is server side, it is not able to access the Office UI element.
