You may also want to look at the Microsoft Visual Programming Language (VPL) which is part of Microsoft Robotics Studio. VPL is a graphical language for controlling robots and much more by orchestrating flows of data between the various services in your application. You can see a short introduction at [1] and try it out by downloading the studio.

Just as a clarification, VB.Net and C# are both integral parts of .Net and do not exist outside the .Net environment. C++ can be used within .Net as so-called "Managed C++" but I wouldn't recommend that as a path to getting started.

you can downlaod the MS Robotic studio from here

  • Hey, thanks!

I am going through tutorial now.

I was going to learn C#.net and C++.net, but the book suggest that I must know C# itself first before moving onto ".net" version. Is this correct? If not, any good book that will get me right into C#.net? I have taken beginner class on C++ and I am learning java now.

    Thanks!

  • Yeah, that is what I am kind of confused. So DSS and CCR can be both programmed using C#.net and VPL? So VPL and C#.net is actually two separate language? I thought VPL is somesort of graphic interface that allow user to create a program and it would "spit" out C#.net code.

I am going through VPL tutorial now, and I found it to be extremely helpful.

    Thanks,

  • hi there,

i started using the tutorials for C# but i am confused that they need hardware.
I wish to simulate a robot on MRDS. I dont have any hardware at the moment.
    Any luck for me?

  • You just replied to a thread that is nearly 5 years old. That is not the best way to get a response. I suggest that you open new threads.

You do not need hardware to use RDS. However the Robotics Tutorials assume that you are using real hardware. Please look at the Simulation Tutorials instead, and maybe the VPL Tutorials.
