Save a RDLC report as Word Document

We need to export a RDLC report to Word on the web server. 

The Word document then needs to be modified - it needs to be merged with another Word document uploaded by users.

Modifying a Word document dynamically on a web server is problematic.  Open XML is recommended.

We have not been able to save the RDLC report as a Word XML document so it can be modified to merge the uploaded Word document.

I wondered if anyone has a suggestion.

We don't have the budget for Aspose.

There is another template based doc generation toolkit (also commercial but cheaper than Aspose). It will allow you to create templates using MS Word and insert tags onto templates. It is also capable of inserting sub-documents into a master doc (template).

Please check, Aspose.Words Api for Cloud, I think it's much cheaper than the .NET and Java APIs, there is a free option as well, please check the pricing info.
