How do I prevent mstest from copying the testcontainer assembly everytime the test runs RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using mstest version 10.0.30319.1. I provide the testcontainer assembly and for every test run something (I assume mstest) is copying the testcontainer assembly to the test results subdirectory created for the test run. This then causes the test to fail because it can't load other assemblies. The other assemblies are sitting in the same directory were testcontainer starts from (the place where I put it).

Having all of the tests fail for this reason is really annoying. Is there a way to configure mstest (I assume through mstest.exe.config) to not move the test assemblies, and do assembly resolving in the directory where the dll originally exists?

  • I found it. I have to stop deployment. The step is adding <Deployment enabled="false" /> to the test settings.
