Sharepoint 2010 wiki templates and infoboxes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ppl,

I'm looking for the sharepoint synonym to mediawiki templates and infoboxes. I can't seem to find it.

Templates allow the usage of the same content over multiple pages (such as a buch of links designed with HTML). I use this a lot in my mediawiki sites, but i want to do the same in sharepoint. I've seen the list functionality but thats not what i really wanted; i also have seen a reusable content button; is this it? How do i populate it?

In addition: infoboxes are template calls with parameters. For example; details about a particular Ford-branded car etc. Can i make such a thing in Sharepoint 2010 wiki? The MW call is: {{sometemplate|variable1=value}} etc.

    Regards,

  • In SharePoint, reusable HTML content is a pluggable content, managed centrally and can be embeded in different pages. So pages will have reference to the content.

In SharePoint resuable content won't come by default to team site. SharePoint Publishing feature has to be enabled.

Below settings are on SharePoint Server 2010.

    1. Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site Collection Administration -> Site Collection Features -> SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure.

    2. Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site Actions -> Manage Site Features -> SharePoint Server Publishing.

    3. Site Actions -> View All Site Content -> Lists -> Reusable Content

    4. Navigate to the page where the reusable content has to come -> Site Actions -> Edit Page -> Page [Tab] -> Insert -> Reusable Content -> Select the content.

Note.: This works only for Publishing pages and not for webpart/wiki pages.
