Geocode Data Flow API Help RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

    I am having an issue using the Geocode Dataflow. This is procedure I followed

    Step 1:  Login to  https://www.bingmapsportal.com

    Step 2:  Click “Create or view keys”

    Step 3:  In the application name I enter my application name

    Step 4:  Application type I selected “Developer”

    Step5:   Click Submit which gives me a key in the following format  “Aj7xxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxx_xxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”

    Step6:   Follow the sample from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff701737.aspx

    Step7:   The program crashes saying “The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized”. I changed the application type to Broadcast/Developer/Education/Evaluation Trial/Mobile/Non-Profit” and nothing works.

                    It returns me the same error.

    Step 8:  When I do a rest call using the locations API for a single address such as http://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Locations?query=seattle&key=Aj7xxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxx_xxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx it works. However, I have to geocode thousands of addresses pulled out from a customer database.

    I copied and pasted the code from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff701737.aspx.

    My content type is :”pipe”

    Sample data is as follows:

    1|en-US||16630 Redmond Way|WA|USA|||Redmond|98052||||||||||||||||||||||

    2|en-US||16552 NE 74th St|WA||||Redmond|||High||||||||||||||||||||||

    3|en-US|Seattle Space Needle||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

    I used my personal Hotmail account and followed the same steps from 1 to 7 described above and I end up with same error.

    Can you please let me know what I am doing wrong.

    Thanks,

  • You need to request access to the spatial data services. Please read "Important Information about Bing Maps Spatial Data Services" announcement at the top of the forum.
