Datbase mirroring for the Publisher database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,
i am going to configure the mirroring in Asynchronous mode setup

principal server and databases are as follows.

    1) server Name A .
    2) database Name 'TES T'

database 'TEST' is already publication database in the replication.

Secondary server and databases are as follows.

    1) server Name B .
    2) database Name 'TEST '

    steps for mirroring
    1.Backup the principal server database
2.restore it on the mirror server database with no recovery.
    3.then we start the configuration

so here while i am preparing the mirror database what are the steps i need to follow to maintain the replication properties on the mirror database.

if fail over is done the mirror database will act as principal .whether it will act as publisher.
whether it going to publish the publication automatically we need to do any configuration changes.
i mean any necessity of creating publications.if so at what stage we need to create the publications.
we can not create after resorting the mirror database with no recovery.

    so please help me

    i already read this link

  • Hi Anjali,

Did you want to know while the failover takes place whether the publication would failover to mirror and works correctly?

    Yes, it will work correctly.

In the Replication and Database Mirroring, a configuration steps is provided under “Configuring Replication with Database Mirroring” section. The step 3 and 4 insure the failover of publication will work correctly:

    3. Configure the mirror to use the same Distributor as the principal.

    4. Configure replication agents for failover.

If anything is unclear, please let me know.
