DiskPrep.exe and Windows 10? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to get a WEC7 development and deployment environment in some sort of stable shape.  My target device is an OEM supplied unit (15" industrial touch screen running WEC7 and CFAST for storage).  Sometimes DiskPrep works fine on my Windwos 10 laptop, othertimes it is f'ing possessed.  Can't write boot sectors, etc.

I need to be able to take a generic CFast card, apply diskprep and have something boot reliably.  Can anyone tell me if they use diskprep.exe in Windows 10?  Supported?  Use it only in Windows 7 (testing now)....

  • Hi cg11,

Windows Embedded Compact 7 would not be supported in Windows 10 as Windows 10 did not exist when it was created. As for DiskPrep, I would imagine you could run it in some kind of compatibility mode / Administrator mode and that may work, even though it is not officially supported.
