HCK and Windows Vista Filter Driver certification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

My question looks alike "No HCK tests available for 64-bit filter driver on Win7, Win8" however it is not. We have developed a Windows Vista only driver that represents File System Filter, Registry Filter and a custom IOCTL device. We were going to submit that to Microsoft for certification however met pretty strange behavior: The HCK Studio does not display any tests to be run for it. It perfectly shows our device to be selected. It shows in the list of Add/remove tests preselected and grayed tests for file filtering drivers BUT none are listed when you select Tests tab. The target machine is configured and has status Ready. It seems that HCK lacks tests for Windows Vista OS. Please help.

    Thank you in advance,

  • Hello,

This is by design for some filter drivers that test on lower level OS's. For lower level OS's filter drivers like this one it’s possible that no tests will appear so the solution is to just return results with no testing and submit. For future test kit releases some tests may appear for the lower level OS’s for this type of driver. For Win 8 and Server 2012 limited tests will appear at this time.

The Dashboard site will run some driver sign ability test to ensure the driver is formatted properly before signing the driver.
