System is leaking registry key handles when a monitor is disabled and re-enabled in Device Manager RRS feed

  • Question

  • When we were doing some testing with display adapter drivers, we discovered that on Windows 10 (version 1607) and Windows Server 2016, the System process is leaking registry key handles (HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d35e96e-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318\<id>) when a monitor is disabled and re-enabled in the Device Manager.  We tried with different display adapter drivers and the end results are the same - handles are leaking.

We do not see the same problem on Windows 7, however.

Is it a known issue?  Thanks.
