SpecExplorer future releases and backward compatibility RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have some questions wrt the future development and releases of SpecExplorer in combination with MS Visual Studio.

What about backward compatibility? In previous years we switched more times from VS 2003 to 2005 and now to 2010. Is there a close cooperation between MS Visual Studio development and SpecExplorer development team? With other words will next releases of MS VS will be compatible with old and/or future versions of SpecExplorer and vice versa?

We will use SpecExplorer/VS2010 for our product and release testing and we should be sure that we can change our existing test scripts and re-test old version of our product at any time when a bug arise from field. Question is whether we can do this when we switch to next versions of MS VS and/or SpecExplorer?

Can you please provide some information about the important features of the next SpecExplorer releases?

    Thanks in advance

    Best regards

  • Hi, RachidP,

Spec Explorer will target at being compatible with the latest Visual Studio. So latest Spec Explorer (i.e. version 3.5) is based on VS2010. When next version of VS releases, of course our team will release a new version compatbile with it.

We are still in planning phase of next release, but there would be no major change, but some small features improving user experience.
