MTM- Query based test suite test status result update RRS feed

  • Question

  • 1. Query based suite is created in such a way that the test cases added to this suite also exists in requirement based suite.

    2. The test cases that exists in the requirement based suite shows the test outcome and test result status exists.

    Question:

Though same test cases exists in both the suite, why does MTM doesn't update the test result on the query based suite?

For example, test case id-59845 in the requirement based suite shows that it is failed as per the test result but on the query based suite the same test case-59845 shows that it is not executed? The test case status is still active?

Why does the test status is not updated?

Thereby, I am not able to track the test results accurately.

    Please clarify.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Preethy,

Based on the records in dbo.tbl_Point table, we can find that they are the different test point (have the different point Id), so they are independency, but we could check the test result together.

  • Hi Preethy,

    >> Test case#59845- Query based test suite indicates that the test status is Active- Not executed

    >> How can we check the test result together?

If you didn’t execute this test point previously, you can’t click View results button for that test point, otherwise you could view test result of that test point by clicking View results button, it will displays the test point result of test case, which include related test points’ result and you could double click a record in Result History to check another result.

    >> Please demonstrate the correct procedure on how to view the same test status in both the test suites?

As I said that they are the independent test points, so we can’t view the same test status in different test suites.

  • but we could check the test result together.

Please clarify on how to check the test result together?

Test case#59845- Query based test suite indicates that the test status is Active- Not executed

But on the Requirement based test suite, the same test case#59845 indicates that it's test status is 'Failed'.

How can we check the test result together?

Please demonstrate the correct procedure on how to view the same test status in both the test suites?

Test metrics is not showing up correctly because of this issue...

    Thanks,

    Preethy
