Azure Application Insights support for Kubernetes on AWS EKS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Everyone,

We have .NET Core application running on Containers hosted in AWS EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) and we would like to monitor it using Application Insights SDK, we have started it as POC but unable to see any telemetry in Azure Portal.

So before we spend anytime further in troubleshooting, I would like to ask few questions

Is this model even supported by Azure Application insights? If yes

Do we need to host application in Public Subnet?

    Regards,

    Ajay K

  • Ajay,

Application Insights is not tied to a specific language, platform or host so it should work just fine when run on AWS EKS.

The standard troubleshooting guide may have some additional insights, but I would suggest starting with the firewall settings for your containers first. Most traffic will be outbound from your app on port 443, but there are a few exceptions. The current list of IP addresses and ports utilized by Application Insights can be found here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-monitor/app/ip-addresses

If your firewall isn't blocking the traffic and the troubleshooting guide doesn't help I can look at it further.
