Changing ConnectionString from strong typed to config-file-stored RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am writing writing a database application that is using a dataset with hardcoded connection string. Unfortunately, after quite a while of work I was told to store th conn string in a configuration file. I have no idea how to do it other way then by using an external text editor and modifying my *.xsd file manually (I am not even sure if this is the only place where this string is stored).

I am aware and pretty sure this is not a neat solution of my problem. But on the other hand, regenerating my entire dataset, dataTableAdapters and queries would be a couple-of-days-long work which I would prefer to avoid.

    Can anyone help me, please.

    Regards

    Rob

  • Here are a couple of links talking about ConfigurationManager and Connection strings that might help:
