How to prevent Notification Hub from collapsing Android notifications? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We're using an Azure Notification Hub to send notifications from an Ionic app. On iOS all notifications appear as separate notifications - that is, if we send three notifications all three appear on the device at the same time until the user swipes them away.

On Android each notification replaces the previous, which is not what the  customer wants.

The Firebase documentation says that the default is for notifications to not collapse on Android. It should only collapse if you send the collapse_key. We're not specifying it in the message payload and, as far as I can tell, it's not being added by Azure.

Thinking back, I'm pretty sure my last two apps (both Xamarin.Forms) also used Azure Notification Hubs and it seems like Android notifications collapsed by default. Luckily those customers liked that functionality.

    Has anyone else experienced this?
