Automatic sms generation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I am a newbie when it comes to programming in Windows Mobile. i want to develop an application that runs continuously and determines the cell tower id. I know now that its possible to find out the cell tower id.
    My question is

    1)can i make the application send an sms automatically to a predefined mobile phone number whenever the cell tower id changes.

    2)will the battery power be lowered by making this application determine the cell tower id continuously in the background.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

    To send the SMS:

    Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.SmsMessage smsmessage  = new Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.SmsMessage("1111","Malleswar");
                smsmessage.Send();

    If I am not wrong You are trying to write an application to find the lost phone. Then in that case, try this sample application:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms881339.aspx

      Yes if the app run in background , it will eat CPU and affect the battery.
      But if this is  your requirement you can sleep(n milliseconds) and allow others app can run or use event driven logic to control your background thead.
