  • When you have a premium MSDN subscription, you get the TFS Workgroup Edition, which contains Version Control:

    Version Control: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms181368.aspx

  • Hi Bhavin,

I fail to understand your statement that 'With VS 2005 Team Edition you got VSS'. VSS has been in existence since long and is used with Visual Studio. Team System is a separate product and contains Server and Client. Server is called Team foundation Server (TFS) whereas clients are role specific Team Editions which provide productivity boosting tools in addition to regular features of Visual Studio. Part of the the services of TFS are version control. Other services are Workitem tracking which facilitates Project Management, Build, Reporting and Portal for team.
VSTS 2005 had TFS 2005 as the server whereas VSTS 2008 has TFS 2008. Any of the clients that you use like Visual Studio 2008 Professional or any team editions can also be used with VSS 2005 if you want to retain that.
