RGBD and Super-resolution RRS feed

  • I'm wondering if anybody has ideas or experiences with super-resolving video (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-resolution) and/or how a depth sensor might be useful in that regard?  Depth and motion data are rather useful to several topics from 2D image and video processing, including spatial and temporal heuristics.  Where many techniques from the past strove to obtain depth and motion information from one or more images, we now have that information alongside the  images or video stream.  Specifically, with RGBD-based super-resolution on the Kinect, we could stream 640x480 RGBD and the recipient could process on their graphics card that stream to super-resolve that with a crispness beyond that of other bitmap scaling techniques.
