Using MSDN Windows Server in a lab setup as a domain controller. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I currently have a MSDN subscription and responsible to maintain our lab environment.  I need to update our domain controller and would like to use my MSDN license for Windows 2016.  The primary use of the domain controller is DNS and DHCP as we need to test our embedded firmware running on our development hardware to make sure they operate properly.  We also have some computers in the domain as well as test email via Exchange Server at times (another server and another license but does connect to the domain to use its AD).  I'm making this inquire because I have been told this might be in violation of the EULA because some of the owners of the test hardware do not have their own MSDN license and therefore would be getting benefits from my MSDN subscription (i.e. their device would receive a DHCP address from a Windows Server licensed to me).  Can you clarify if it would be OK or not to use my license in the test environment?
