Wrong names of cities. RRS feed

  • Question

  • In Valencia, Spain. The official name of the city is Xàtiva, both in English and in its original language (Catalan). The only place where Játiva is contemplated is in the wikipedia in Spanish, where they give that name. The false name of the city was due to a process of forced Spanishization of the names of the cities as it happens in other cases such as Xeresa (Jeresa), Xàvia (Jávea), Barxeta (Barcheta), Ontinynent (Onteniente), etc. . Please, fix this. I know linguists and I can help when looking for information to demonstrate these errors. It was at the time of the dictator F. Franco that those Spanishized names were imposed on the cities to try to erase the name in Catalan.
