Creating Object Data Sources in a ASP.NET WebService RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to create a WebService that loads all report data into Business Objects(which contain all business logic)  and prints reports that are driven from these objects. When I create the business object classes they do NOT appear in the Web Site Data Sources Toolbox. I can create SQL datasources, but not object ones. I also created the same objects in a WebForms app and they show up there, so I don't think there is an issue with the way the objects are coded.

Anyone know how I can make these show up in the Web Site Data Sources Toolbox?

  • More on this... I also want to print reports from this web service, obviously without preview, it is possible to do this without writing to the FileSystem?

  • Chackout this link for using business objects as a datasource

The only issue I found with doing this is if you change the object structure after referencing it in your report, the report's datasource changes. This may have been just unique to this one situation.

I am in the process of trying it again.

    Hope the link helps
