Folder to be recognized RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have created a folder called "Bills" in Outlook not in the Inbox.

    What does "PersonalFolder" have to be in order for "BillsFolder" to be recognized?

    Dim BillsFolder As Outlook.MAPIFolder
    Set BillsFolder = PersonalFolder.Folders("Bills")

  • You can get the Inbox folder using the GetDefaultFolder method of the Namespace class (or the Store class in case if you have multiple accounts configured in Outlook profile).

  • Bills Folder is not in inboxFolder it is in the root folder along with the Inbox, Deleted Items and Junk E-mail Folders.

  • Then you need to use the Parent property of the Inbox folder to get the parent folder object. Then you can get the Bills folder:

    yourBillsFolder = parentFolder.Folders("Bills")
