How can I exclude some types from auto generating when I do ASR (Add Service Reference) to a client project? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have to consume a service, the meta data of which is exposed through a HTTP port. It has lot of information (types) that my client program will not use, it only uses one or two types. How do I exclude the non interesting types from service being auto generated by visual studio?

Second question: Commenting the unnecessary stuff in Reference.cs would cause any problem in production generally? I have tested it on my debug environment and my client application works fine with unnecessary auto-generated code commented.

I know it is breaking the contract equivalency but in my case it is very unlikely that I get the service upgrades quite often.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks.
