Sharepoint 2010 External List Workflows/ Event Handlers ?

Hi

I know the answer will be no but is there any other way to associate workflows or event handlers with external list ?

As you already said it is not possible to create workflow on external list, But as a workaround

You can create a site workflow, or just have a list workflow on a regular list, like a document library, and have it read or update from an external list.

Hi,

As the article statement, we cannot associate workflow with External List because workflow engine cannot run on back end system. We can create a site workflow, or have a list workflow on a SharePoint list, such as a document library, and have it read or update from an external list. You can also use an external list item as a destination for a task process in SharePoint Designer; however, the link to the task will not display a title for the external list item.
