  • There isn't a direct way to do this, but you can do it indirectly. The security model for Agent uses database roles such as the SQLAgentUserRole role, which allows a member of this role to run and edit the jobs owned by them. So if you can change the job so it is owned by a specific user who is a member of this role, they can start this job. Of course, they can edit it as well since they are the owner.

Another role, the Operator role, prevents edits but allows read access to job data even if the given operator does not own it. So depending on your specific scenario, these roles may suffice for your needs.

You can read the specifics about what these roles do in Books online.

    Hope this helps,

    James
