Automating PDF/image export from PowerPoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My company is developing a web application at the moment, part of which involves taking an uploaded PowerPoint presentation and generating a PDF version as well as JPGs from each of the slides in the presentation.

I have built the component to do this using C# and the Office interop DLLs and everything works ok when run through a standalone test application or through the VS Web Server. However if I try to use this component from an IIS hosted webapp I get COM exceptions when trying to open a presentation using Application.Presentations.Open.

I've seen the official line on trying to automate Office, however I'd like to know if anyone has actually done something along these lines and if so how they managed to do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • You can use a third party tool for converting the power point to pdf/image converter. It may be possible to integrate a third party tool with your existing application.
