how to prevent Private Character Editor from opening. RRS feed

  • Question

  • For the last few days "Private Character Editor" has been opening of its own accord on my PC. I have tried closing it down but it reappears shortly afterwards. I have also used Task Manager to close it but again it reappears. Can you please let me know how to get rid of this. Thank you in advance

  • Have you installed "Private Character Editor"?  Is it a safe software?

I suspect it would be some malware. You could uninstall it by Program and featufes (Control Panel).

  • Hi amreerma,

    Sorry for my misunderstanding.

If "Private Character Editor" run automatically when Windows starts, remove/stop autorun program.
      a) [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[Esc] > Task Manager > [Startup]
      b) (in File Explorer)
         C:\Users\<your account>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
      c) (in Registry)
--- I spare explanation, since editing Registry may cause some troubles.
--- If you want explanation, please say so.

I have no idea about "Private Character Editor" run automatically after closing it, and will try to search.

Finally, I would like to confirm:
    1. What is your Windows? Windows 7, 8.1, 10, or other?
    2. What did you do before your issue appeared?

    Regards,

    Ashidacchi
