How to identify the security group of a user in Project Server with out going tpo manage users page RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    Our requirement is we hjave around 1000 users in PWA now every time we will get tickets changing user security groups, every time changing 100 users is like a tedious job.

    Inorder to avaoid this we want to capture the security group in excel / custom list so that we can know what security group is there for each user based on that we can change the user security group easily.

    Most of the cases we have what ever the request we get from the user he is already a member of that group.

    Is there any possibility that we can find what security group a user belong to with out going into the manage users page.

  • Hello Geeth,

    You can get this information from published DB.

    SELECT R.RES_NAME,SG.WSEC_GRP_NAME

    FROM MSP_WEB_SECURITY_GROUP_MEMBERS AS SGM INNER JOIN

    MSP_WEB_SECURITY_GROUPS AS SG ON SGM.WSEC_GRP_GUID = SG.WSEC_GRP_GUID INNER JOIN

    MSP_RESOURCES AS R ON SGM.WRES_GUID = R.RES_SECURITY_GUID

    where r.res_type <=2

    order by RES_NAME

    Microsoft do not recommend use published DB for reporting. However this is only way I know to get this detail.

    Thank you,

    Kiran K.
