EDI 850 schema RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am working with oiur customer on EDI data exchange implementation. They use 850 schema for Purchase orders. They use Packaging Code "CTN25", which I can't find in any schema version supplied by Microsoft (the only value I see is "CTN"). They said they use it with all their B2B partners. I am just wondering if it's missing in Microsoft 850 schemas or they use some custom value not compliant with EDI industry standard?

    Thanks,

    Vladimir.

  • Vladimir,

Often whether or not a code is accepted by the standard depends on the X12 version of the schema.  CTN25 is not a standard value as I recall, but is often used.  Having a trading partner want a code that is not standard is not unusual.

Since the maximum length for the 103 element is five, all you have to do is add this code to the code list for the element.  Look in properties, Click on Enumeration, click on the ellipsis that appears beside Collection, and a code list will open.  Add CTN25 to the list.

    Hope this helps,
