Hook needed to access IM1Address field in Contact in View Mode RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
I need to modify the existing behavior of "select key" on IM1Address field in existing Contact in Contacts(Phone Book) application in Windows Mobile.
The existing behavior when "enter" or "select" key is pressed is to open the contact in edit mode with focus on the IM1Address text-edit box. I need to change this to open another application (possibly an IM application installed in the phone).

I checked out the list of "Notification Window Messages" and other POOM APIs, but couldn't get what I wanted. Can anyone please help me on this?

  • Hi Kishor,

As far as I know, this is by design, we can't achieve that.

  • This is the step-by-step procedure of what I am looking out for:

    1. Open PhoneBook/ Contacts application in WM phone
    2. Navigate to the desired contact. Click Enter.
    3. The contact is displayed in View Mode.
    4. Scroll down to IM1 field.
    5. Press "Select" or "Enter" key

    Existing behavior:
The contact is opened in Edit mode with the focus in the Text Edit box of IM1 Address.

    Desired behavior:
A new application should be launched.

    Any inputs/ suggestions are welcome.

  • Thanks for the reply, Guang-Ming.
Is it possible for you to shed more light on why this is so?
For phone number, the default action in the LSK is Call. For email, the default action in the LSK is Send Email. But only for IM ID, the default action is Edit. It looks a bit inconsistent for me. Would appreciate if you can shed more light on the logic behind this behavior.

    Thanks and Warm Regards,
    Kishor
