Cannot get connected to the internet with Windows Developer Preview

Question

Today I tried to get my internet up in school but it kept on saying that I had to turn on the internet.  I even tried to get it up at home and I still couldn't get it up.  I finally had to refresh windows and everything that I put on this program was taken off.  I had to install Microsoft Office 2010 again.  Do I keep my netbook on all the time so I can still get my internet?  I did try to turn on the internet by going into control panel but it only had it where you could turn on the one for airplane.  Do I have to install all the other programs again that I downloaded and installed like Adobe flash and Java programs to run my electronic math book online each time I log out.  Is there anyway that I could put these programs on the Start page.  I just wanted to know I am new at this.  Could you help me in all of this.

What error message do you get when you try to connect to the Internet?
What kind of connection are you using? Is it a wireless connection?

You might try and upgrade the firmware on your router to see if you can connect to the internet.

If you installed programs, you can pin them to the Start menu. You should not have to reinstall them.
