Find Open Internet Explorer Window RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to search all open windows to determine if an Internet Explorer window I have opened exists.  If it doesn't exist, open a new instance ofInternet Explorer but if it does exist, navigate to a new URL.

I am working with a standalone Javascript file rather than script in an HTML page.  I am able to open the Internet Explorer window and iterate through all the open windows.  But once the window is open, I can't find it in the collection of open windows so I can reuse it.

I have tried to name the window so I can find it again but nothing I have tried works.

Is there some property of the Internet Explorer window I can set and test to see if it's the window I opened that will persist even if the user navigates to a new URL?

    Thanks,
    Tom
