After creating an .accde neither .accdb or .accde will open RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a database application that I have made some changes to. The database has a password. There is a backend database that also has a password.

I tested the app and it worked fine.

I compacted the .accdb file and then compiled it. When I open either file, I get the password request. I enter the password, but it is not accepted. I am just put back to the password screen.

I have not changed the password in years, so I know what I am entering is correct.

Something is corrupted somewhere. Since I cannot open the applicaton I do not know if there is anything that I can do.

I have incrementally saved the .accdb file, so I can go back and re-enter the last changes. It is a fairly long process, but better than starting from scratch.

Can anyone suggest something that I can do to open the accdb file and perhaps fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help

  • What version of Office/Access are you using?  What is the Build No.?  What bitness (32 or 64)?

  • enter the FE password first, and when put back into the PW screen next enter the BE password

if that doesn't work - reverse order

if that doesn't work - sanity check a direct open of the BE with it's password and see if there is an issue there

assuming BE is ok but you can't open FE I see no choice but to return to a prior build...bummer....

note that from the prior build you MIGHT be able to import the new objects from your current locked up FE - it is at least worth a try.

would be interested to hear what you learn......
