Not all Active Directory users in Sharepoint All Users group RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,

I can't find a user in SP All Users group though full import was made several times. Does this user have to login at portal to add him in this group?

  • Have you imported the users into the Profiles?  I'm afraid profiles and users are related but they are not the same thing.

I think the user itself is not actually created until:
    a) You give explicit permissions to him/her
    b) He/She accesses the site for the first time.

  • Hello Enrique,

If we add the AD Group with read permissions to which a user belongs; and then user visits the portal; do you think User will be populated in User Information List? I am using WSS3.0 (no MOSS)

In My case, this is not happening. Below is what I did

    - Created a SharePoint Group named Readers

    - Created a AD Group named Domain\ProductReaders

    - In SharePoint group Readers, added the membership for Ad group Domain\ProductReaders

    - In SharePoint Site, added Sharepoint group Readers with read permissions.

I can not find any documentation where it says user will not be created (or confirming it will be).

    Thanks,

    Ved
