VS2015 community removed new.h from VC\include, causing "Cannot find include file “new.h”" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just upgraded VS2015 from ultimate to community. I have been always using the build tools under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\VC to build my application. After upgrading, the build breaks because

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\VC\atlmfc\include\afx.h(78): fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'new.h': No such file or directory

Ultimate has VC\include\new.h but Community does not. Is this by design? How can I fix this build break? Do I have to install windows SDK to get new.h? Thanks for any clue.

  • Is the command line build supported in VS2015 community?

  • I give it another try today and reinstalled it. Still new.h missing. But this time my search for new.h had success.

    I added C:\...\Windows Kits\10\Include\10.0.10150.0\ucrt

to my MSBuild inlcude path. I swear I haven't thi spath as I tried 3 months ago. Now everything with mfc compile fine.
