Changes to WCF RIA Application Home Page not Showing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok, so I File->New Projected a Silverlight 4 WCF RIA application to follow along with the 8 part tutorial in the training kit (with John Papa). The problem is that any change I make to the Home view in the Silverlight project doesn't show up when F5'ing.

There's no compilation errors or warnings. For instance, in the tutorial a DataGrid is added to the Silverlight control which displays data from an EF model on the server. When I first added the DataGrid and hit F5 the Home page would spin up but the DataGrid was nowhere to be found. I deleted the DataGrid and added a simple Button and changed the default text (I can't remember off hand what it says originally, something like 'Add Content Here' or something). Anyway, I change that to 'Test' and hit F5. Still nothing.

I've cleaned the project, deleted the .xap file off the server project so it's forced to recreate it... nothing. Is the .xap cached somewhere that's perhaps not getting updated?  Any other ideas would be appreciated.

  • Ah, I forgot I had this thread open. Actually, I never did figure it out. I blew everything away, re-created my project and set it up exactly as I did originally, and everything worked fine!?

Haven't had a problem with SL or RIA after that.

    Thanks for the follow-up however.

  • Hi,

According to your description, I suspect it's something with your host page.

You can open your Silverlight App's host page check the SL plugin.

If it's source is pointing to the right xap file. Or maybe your start up page is not the host page.

    Best Regards
