As Visual Studio 2015 Community supports Web Forms (ASP.NET 4.6), and Web Forms having design views they should be rendered.

    Hope this will help.

    Hi,

    zoltac007

Are additional statements needed for Visual Studio to render same in Design View?

According to current information, VS 2015 supports ASP.NET from 2.0 to 4.6. here is Visual Studio 2015 Released plus ASP.NET 5 Roadmap

You can also consider upgrading your asp.net application to 4.5 and above.

    With regards,

    Angie

Is the Design View suppose to render web forms created in ASP.NET 2.0?  Below are some truncated <add assembly  statements from the webconfig.   They enable online rendering of 2.0 web forms.  Are additional statements needed for Visual Studio to render same in Design View?

    <add assembly="System.Design, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral
    <add assembly="System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral
    <add assembly="System.Web, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral
    <add assembly="System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral
    <add assembly="System.Configuration, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral
    <add assembly="System.Drawing, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutralIs it suppose to render web forms created with ASP.Net 2.0

Then I should expect it render Web Forms created in Visual Studio Express 2012 for Web.  Our problem stems from the fact that we migrated this site from a Windows Server 2003 box and the code was managed using the VS Express with Front Page Extensions.

We want to upgrade to 4.5 but we desperately need the Design View to load.  As of now none of our pages will load in Design View.  When Design View is selected the MasterPages report unable to load.  The C# code behind for every page highlights every control from TextBoxes to Gridviews with a Tool Tip that says they do not exist in the current context.

Do you know if  AspNetSQLMembershipProvider is still supported.  We are getting a message possibly relating to it on our web.config
"ASP.NET runtime error: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."
