Calling WS from SSIS package

Hi there, does anyone has experience calling Web Services from a .dtsx package?

Why?

Instead of using a SQL link server between two datacenters (States and another one in EMEA), I've requested a WS. Idea here is having to a local copy of the required tables in the same physical location So at the end of the day, I'll avoid to use a link server for JOIN stuff.

Does it make sense for you?

Hi Enric,

Make sure the server that runs SSIS packages can go to the wild web (firewall, routing rules are in place).

Also I know the local laws may prevent copying data across continents.

A WS typically just runs ad-hoc requests at speeds magnitude slower than linked connections.
