Camera API call on simulator

    Question

  • I am creating a metro app using WinJS which calls camera.

    var captureUI = newWindows.Media.Capture.CameraCaptureUI();

          captureUI.captureFileAsync(Windows.Media.Capture.CameraCaptureUIMode.photo).then(success,fail);

    on launching inside simulator in visual studio 2012 RC

    I get "connect a camera" with camera option, timer, Video bar option in its app bar are disabled.

    on launching the app from local machine in visual studio 2012 RC, I get a camera and option to capture the image.

    any idea on how to test the camera functionality on a simulator, as the app is designed for upcoming tablets

    appreciate if someone could throw somelight on this or have a solution.

  • You cannot use the simulator and access the camera.  You will need to use the desktop to test the camera functionality.
