Empty windows left behind when workbooks are closed in Excel 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • In Excel 2013 with new feature Single document Interface(SDI) added, when any workbook is opened, it will open in a new excel window and when it is closed programmatically (VBA) ,it will close the workbook but the respective window(empty) is left behind. How can we close the workbook without leaving an empty window behind.

When there is  just one workbook opened to close this workbook with VBA, we can reproduce this issue.
This issue is caused by that you don't end Excel application process when you close this workbook with VBA. So I suggest that you could use Application.Quit method.

    If Workbooks.Count = 1 Then
        Application.Quit
    End If
