FreezePanes throws an exception when Excel is minimized RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I try to freeze panes from VBA and excel is minimize I get the following exception " Unable to set the FreezePanes property of the Window Class"

    How to test:

    1. Open Excel 2013/2016

    2. Open VBA immediate window

    3. Run the following commands when Excel is minimized

    - Rows("2:2").Select

    - ActiveWindow.FreezePanes = True

Is this a bug, or is this the designed behaviour? In Excel 2010 works just fine.

  • It's probably a side effect of Excel now being a single document interface application, and I'd say it's a bug. In Excel 2016, you can report it through File > Feedback > I don't like something.
