  • Question

  • Hi everyone...

My sharepoint system was working all along. Then suddenly it started giving out issue. When the home page opens as shown in the figure below:

If any of the top-link bar sites are clicked, it now displays:

    Try the following:
    • Refresh page: Search for the page again by clicking the Refresh button. The timeout may have occurred due to Internet congestion.
    • Check spelling: Check that you typed the Web page address correctly. The address may have been mistyped.
    • Access from a link: If there is a link to the page you are looking for, try accessing the page from that link.
If you are still not able to view the requested page, try contacting your administrator or Helpdesk.
    Technical Information (for support personnel)
    • Error Code 11001: Host not found
    • Background: This error indicates that the gateway could not find the IP address of the website you are trying to access. This is usually due to a DNS-related error.
    • Date: 4/20/2015 1:56:15 PM
    • Server: Octavius.Theoiltestgroup.local
    • Source: DNS error

Meanwhile, if I change the url manually by entering for instance http://hermes:20646:oiltest/personal/ots/default.aspx that site will open. But if the link is clicked, it wont open.

    Kindly assist.

  • Hi udlondy,

Based on the message, it seems you have configured TMG proxy in your SharePoint 2010, when you access "Octavius.Theoiltestgroup.local" url, "Error Code 11001: Host not found" occurs, when you access "http://hermes:20646", it worked.

Please check if your TMG rule configuration is correct, and the FQDN "Octavius.Theoiltestgroup.local" is binded to the SharePoint site from IIS manager.

Also please check if there is somthing wrong with configuration on IE proxy on your PC machine.
