  • Hi joaney,

    Thanks for your reply.

I could not see any activity log message from this above all links as you provided, so if possible, please share me a useful link about this activity log message for us.

In addition, as you pervious said that when you click some controls in your form causes your VS to stopped working for previous works.

I suggest you could try to create a simple form application and then add control in the form, then click it again check if you get same issue.

If you still get the issue, I suggest you will need to un-install the VS2010 completely from this control panel and then re-install the VS2010 check this issue.

However, if you installed some third-party tools on your machine, maybe it will impact this VS IDE.

I suggest you could also try to disable some processes from this Task Manager and then check this issue again.

  • Hi joaney,

    Thanks for your reply.

From this activity log message, I did not see any error message about this VS2010. In addition, since you get same issue during creating a new project in this VS2010, I suggest you could try to un-install this VS2010 completely and then re-install a other version of this VS2010 such as the VS2013 and then check if you get same issue.

    (1) If you did not get same issue for this VS2013 on your machine, I suggest you could try to copy same version of this VS2010 Setup file on other machine and then check if the issue is related to this VS2010 setup file.

    (2) If you get same issue for this VS2013, I assume that the issue more related to your OS environment. So if possible, I suggest you could try to update your OS environment to check this issue again.

  • Hi Tina,

I installed higher version of VS, still problem occurs

I run my project under WINDOWS safe mode (not denenv.exe /safemode), error disappers

How can I know what causes the error if its anti virus or anything?

I disabled my Anti virus during testing and debug, i just curios why it runs under windows safe mode

    thanks

  • Hi joaney,

    Thanks for your reply.

I find many warnings:PkgDef merge registry encountered data collision for key value from this html log file and I did some research about this warning from this following blog.

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudio/archive/2010/03/22/troubleshooting-pkgdef-files.aspx

So please you refer the following blog to troubleshooting this issue.

Or you can refer the following a similar thread for this warning.

    Reference:

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/9bfff0b2-866d-4221-8ad1-1f71c4ffe417/pkgdef-merge-registry-encountered-data-collision?forum=vssetup

To check if this issue is caused in anti virus, please you disable it and then open VS check this issue.

In addition, since you get same issue in this VS2013 on your machine, I assume that maybe the issue is more related to your OS environment. So if possible, I still suggest you update or repair your OS environment to check this issue.
