  • Hi Dips,

First please ensure that download and install the VB Express SP1 VS80sp1-KB926747-X86-INTL.exe (32.3M) in this official document.

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7B0B0339-613A-46E6-AB4D-080D4D4A8C4E&displaylang=en

Please check this thread to know about the issue "The upgrade patch cannot be installed".

    Here are two suggestions:

1.You need to specify the program to run the update file.

This issue occurs because Windows doesn't know which application should be used to open the file you have downloaded.

Right-click the patch file -> Select 'Open With' -> choose 'Windows Installer' to run it.

If Windows Installer is not a listed option, please try the following:
Click the Browse button and go to C:\Windows\System32, Select the file 'MSIEXEC' to run it.

    2. Uninstall and reinstall the Visual Basic 2005 Express Editions in this official document, and then install the SP1.
