How can I use my program to launch video files? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I would like to know how it is possible to launch 3gp fils with my program instaed of Media Player. Must I change the registry?

Can I associate my program to the MIME type of the file?

The idea is to replace the media player by my program for a test. I know it is possible to change the registry whan installing a CAB file, but I don't know which keys to change to be sure to use my program instead of MediaPlayer. My program is located in \program Files\TestVideo\test.exe

    Any help will be appreciated

Thank you in advance and I wish you a good day

  • Hi,

The following registry setting seems to be the one you are interested in :-

    @="WMPlayer.exe \"%1\""

This seems to associate 3gp files with Windows Media Player, so I think you could replace this exe name with your exe name.

    Hope this helps.
