Query about Multiple Storage Endpoints.

    Question

  • Team,

i wanted to know what is the purpose of having multiple endpoints for storage accounts. does it mean that its kind of a failover so if one endpoint is not available other one will server the storage requests or something else.

  • Greetings Alok,

One of the uses of an endpoint is you can map a custom domain and subdomain to the blob endpoint for your storage account enabling users to access the blob data in your storage account using that domain.

You can also create a new service client object for anonymous access by providing the Blob service endpoint for the account.

In case there’s an outage and Geo-Redundant Storage failover kicks in, your existing storage service endpoints for blobs, tables, queues, and files will remain the same after the failover; the DNS entry will need to be updated to switch from the primary region to the secondary region.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards.

  • Hi,

within a single storage account you will have different endpoints for the different storage options that are available:

    - BLOB

    - FILE

    - QUEUE

    - TABLE

this has nothing to do with redundancy (by default all your data is stored x3 times within your zone by default)

    Cheers Christophe
