    Jim,

What happens if you create a new standard user account and launch
Expression Media when logged in as that user? If you need assistance
creating the user account, please let me know. Otherwise, please let me
know the results of this test.

    Best Regards,

    Hello,

Thank you for your response. I have given my user account administrative
rights and it still prompts me for the serial. It would appear to skip this
only for the administrator user that I used to install the software. If I
right click and say run as administrator AND my user account is NOT an
administrator, then it will launch properly. I assume this is because it is
running as if I was the user account that was the same one that installed the
program. What you suggested works, but only if my user account is not an
administrator. I don't know why it is associated ONLY with the admin that was
    used to install the program.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    Jim,

We have seen issues similar to this one, and I'd like to get some
clarification on what you are experiencing.

If you create a new user profile (administrator or users), does this issue
    occur for the new user?
Has Expression Media been installed and activated on this machine before?

Also, please try the following test:

    1. In a user which receives the prompt for product key, click Start > All
    Programs > Microsoft Expression
    2. Right-click on Expression Media and choose properties
    3. Under the compatibility tab, check the box to "Run this program as an
    administrator" and click OK
    4. Launch Expression Media

This sets the default launch behavior to the same as launching Expression
Media from the Administrator account or right-clicking and choosing Run as
    Administrator.

    Best Regards,

I have shed some light onto the problem. When I run Expression Media as an
administrator (on Vista Business), it does NOT prompt for the serial. It only
appears to do it when I try to run it as a non-administrator account.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    Hello,

I obtained my copy of Expression Studio from my university's (Columbus State
University) MSDNAA site. I have installed Web, Blend, and Media. Everything
worked fine for a good while. I am not sure what triggered it, although I am
suspecting an automatic update may have been the culprit, but now Media asks
for a serial key again and will not accept the one I have from my school. Web
works fine. I am using the right serial (Studio not Web) when entering it
into Media. I have looked online and have not found a solution. Has anyone
else had this problem and what is the solution?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jim
