Allowing CustomUI-created ribbon tab to move? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I have created a Word add-in in VBA, which includes a ribbon tab created in the CustomUI Editor. It is distributed as a global template in the Startup folder. I've had a request that the tab's placement in the ribbon be adjustable. When I go to Customize Ribbon, my tab does not appear at all. Is this even possible, or is custom tab placement static? I know I could create a custom tab through Customize Ribbon that would be rearrangeable, so I don't understand why my tab isn't.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

  • are you saying that even after using either InsertAfterMso or InsertBeforeMso as an attribute for your group it appears at the end of the existing tabs?

    For example this will add a tab after the Home tab.

    <customUI  xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/01/customui" >
        <ribbon >
            <tabs >
                <tab
                    id="Tab1"
                    insertBeforeMso="TabInsert"
                    label="Tab1"/>
            </tabs >
        </ribbon >
    </customUI >
