No database connection with published LightSwitch HTML client RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a simple LightSwitch project that connects to an Azure SQL Database and has a simple HTMLClient. It has a screen to browse through entries from a single table and one to edit/add these entries. I am using a local IIS server to test the application.

The application works perfectly fine when running in debug mode, but when I publish the application for release it seem that the database connection does not work anymore. The browse screen shows "no entries" and when trying to add an entry I get a 404 error message in a popup.

The thing is, I am using the exact same database connection settings for publishing as I am using for the debug version which is working just fine.

What could be causing this behaviour?

  • Hi,

Just some questions to try and trouble shoot this:

    • Does your Azure SQL Database connection string contains specific log in information, or is it using integrated security?
    • Where do you publish your application to? IIS Server, Azure?
    • Can you install Fiddler and capture the request response on the Browse Screens / Add Screen?
